Train of thought.
My friend SheaLyn and I went to Lola Coffee today to catch up and do some homework.
Typical girls we discussed if there is “anyone new” in our lives. This led to her talking about this man of God that wrote something great on his blog, I read it, loved it and wanted to share it.
“Our goal is to not be like our father, Adam, but rather more like Jesus. There is no “try” for us. We do. We act out of Faith & Love. We will fight for you. We will not sit by and be quiet like Adam. We will encourage you. We will speak life into you. We will listen to you. We will respect you. We will honor you. We will specifically honor you financially, physically, emotionally, and any other way God has told us in the Word. We are few in existence, but we’re always challenging the other men around us to be more like Jesus. We strive to do such things, because that’s what Jesus has done for his bride, the Church. Thank God for your tenderness. Thank God for your compassion. Thank God for your input. Thank God for your motivating words. Thank God for when you see and call greatness out of us. Thank God for your elegance. Thank God for your laughter. Thank God for your joy. Thank God for your creativity. Thank God for your wisdom. Thank God for Everything. We are humbled by God blessing us with just who you are. Know that and walk in it.”
I hear much of the population of women saying things like “there are no good guys out there” and sometimes I mindlessly say that without realizing that men like this do exist. In fact, I have plenty of men like this in my life as close friends, acquaintances, teachers, family/church friends. Whether it be people at school, or YL leaders on my team or even in my area in general, I’m thankful to have a bunch of great Godly men around.
Also, with the things mentioned above…it shouldn’t overwhelm a man (in a bad way) to read that excerpt and think that this is too high of a standard to live up to.
If a man is abiding in the Lord, these things will naturally flow. While there are moments of weakness, seasons of growth, and I personally don’t expect men to be perfect, relying on Him is the main way for a mans character to be molded for the better.
